why i do photography
This blog is purely for my sharing love of photography & somewhere to express my mind.
Photography is my passion & hobby; it’s my ‘escape’ from the world. It is the place where everything drifts away, where I can be peaceful & content. Exploring life through my lens gives me new hope, something to look forward to & something to strive for. It’s a way of documenting my life & my surroundings; my blog is a way to track my progress & somewhere to keep my memories.
I have had an interest in photography since I was 18 years old & ever since then I’ve become extremely serious about photography, which has seen me upgrade my Nikon Coolpix p80 to the Nikon D90 SLR in January this year. I shoot almost every day, even if it’s just something small like a pet or plant; I’m constantly trying to learn something new. I’ve only recently started using photoshop to ‘edit’ my photographs so any tips or ideas you have, send them my way :)
I am still learning how to use my Nikon D90 SLR so give me direction; I am open to new opinions, suggestions & ideas. I love hearing your feedback, so please leave a comment around the place, I will always respond.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. Do let me know who you are, so I can appreciate your blog to.
P.s. I’m contactable at: moresecretwhispers@hotmail.com

I can see why you enjoy photography. Apparently you have a very amazing talent for it. You use the word PASSION and there really isn’t a better word to describe it. Keep doing what you love to do for as long as it continues to make you happy, and if you get a minute… read my page

It’s a beautiful passion. And don’t worry about photoshop cause I dont have it either and surprised to say I’m using paint to modified all my pictures too! :)
I like all your pictures and keep it up!

Same here. If photography was not a side activity, I think we would not enjoy it–or enjoy it differently.
Keep it up the good work Chloe :)

Not like you don’t know this, but you are an amazing photographer. I too know what it’s like to have a passion, and that’s what life is about. If you don’t have a passion for anything, life is kinda pointless. Keep snappin those shots. Later on

Ah another photographer, the world can never have to many. I too suffer from the same, I love love LOVE taking photos and it is my true passion albeit I am the abstract sort. I love your work, you have a unique eye which as your father said will take you places.
I followed you here from my blog “The Battle Stories”, thanks for the visit and your kind words, hopefully one day all the stories on there will be published in one book. Lets wait and see how that pans out.
Thanks again, you’re in my Reader

I like some of your work and how you are experimenting with ISO and other aspects. Particularly I like the jeep reflection and the sky on previous posts.
Don having shot professionally for more than 30 years I have felt at times that if it was a hobby I would like it more but the passion of the next image or waiting to the weekend for the next image would drive me nuts. LOL I am consumed. As for Photo shop I understand it but rarely use it except to recreate tho look off a fine art silver gelatin paper i will print on. Still shooting film and loving it. enjoy pjc

I like your pictures. My heart opens when I see them.
My son is the same way about cooking as you are about photography. He does fantastic cooking on his terms, he tried running a kitchen in a high class restaurant but the daily pressure was ruining the fun, so now he cooks for family an friends for fun and we all enjoy food that is better than five star with just chipping in for food cost.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the comments, Chloé! I have talked with a few of my photographer friends and they also suggest Nikon cameras. How do you feel about the Nikon D70? Are there any specific ones that you perfer? Sorry to bombard you with all of these questions…I just want to be sure to start out with the right one. Yes, I currently have a camera, but it’s just one of those small every-day digital cameras. (I have the Sony Cybershot DSC-S780 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom, if that means anything to you…)
Fashion is my outlet , like photography is to you, and personal escape from this hectic world. I am studying to be a fashion designer and I just decided that I would start a blog. It was my new years resolution to write a new post everyday and I have been doing just that! It really has taught me a lot about fashion.

Hi Chloe,
I love your photo’s.
Have you ever tried to sell any of them?….there’s no greater thrill than to have someone like your photo so much that they want to pay for it and use it,perhaps for a magazine, website etc !

WOW WOW WOW. i wish my images come out like yours. I thought you need to be a pro to get stuff that looks like this.
i have new hope now… but i think i missing some critical parts cause my pictures don’t look anything like these.
one suggestion would be to blog about how not to get images to show blurry. this is my number one problem :-(
great stuff, keep it coming.

Hey Chloe, great site! You have been busy with your Nikon!
Thanks for the comment on my site, glad you like.
There’s more pics on my photostream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattprestonphotography
One thing i would say is your comment about not using photoshop on any of your images. I would argue that it’s not a bad thing to do “post-processing”. After all if you were taking a picture with a film camera rather than a digital camera you would do post-processing in order for it to be developed, englarged, etc.
Also if you shoot in RAW format rather than JPEG you can often correct exposure issues that would have otherwise made a photo unusable.
So post processing isn’t always a bad thing. Too much can be, sure, but it’s a natural process in photography and always has been. I used to do ‘dodging’ and ‘burning’ when i created enlargements from film negatives.
Anyway just my 2 cents. Keep up the prolific blogging!

Hi Chloe,
I think it’s great that you have also found a passion in photography. It really is a great escapism and creative outlet hey ! There are so many genres and methods that the only way you can stop learning is to give up.
Enjoy your new cam and keep smiling !

Chloe, thanks for your comments the other day, I’d have returned the favor sooner but I have been ill with the flu and feeling like crap. It’s always so encouraging when a talented photographer such as yourself leaves comments on my own stuff. So thankyou I really appreciate it. And I have subscribed to your blog too and am looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Cheers
